LinkedIn Post: Say Your Name Last

You ever see one of those zombie movies where the humans are getting overrun, and two survivors find each other in the middle of all the chaos, and the first thing they do is hold up their hands and say their names?
Makes total sense in a zombie movie. You humanize yourself by saying who you are.
It's backwards online.
When you're trying to meet a stranger on the internet, your name is one of the worst things you can lead with. Seriously, people don't care what your name is. Not yet. They don't know you. The internet is frantic and there's a lot of it, and everybody's already being asked for more while they're given less. Somebody's name is just more noise.
So flip it. Don't open with who you are. Open with what you do. Put the work out front and let them decide if they like it. Once they do, your name matters, and now they've got somewhere to put it.
That's how I close my own videos. I say what I do, give you the thing, and save the name for the very end, after you already know what I do and maybe like me a little.
The name isn't the door. It's the thing you get to say once somebody's already walking in.
