Cloud 9 L5P — Warm Outreach

Target: Cloud 9 L5P (Little Five Points indie arcade bar and community space)

Tier: B-warm — W4 in targets.md warm leads section

Channel: Phone / walk-in (have number)

Prior contact: Dropped off notecards — they were lukewarm on it

Built: 2026-05-26

Context

Cloud 9 is the kind of L5P space that actually lives the "all nerdoms welcome" thing rather than just posting it. Community gathering, indie games, people who found their people there. That's distinct from a bar that happens to have an arcade cabinet in the corner.

The notecard pitch was lukewarm — whatever was on it didn't land. That's fine. The phone call is a different register: it's Brandyn, not a card. And the angle this time shifts away from whatever the card asked for.

The right offer: I'm putting together a short video series featuring L5P spaces and the people who run them. Cloud 9 is on the list. Free 60-second reel from an event or community night of their choosing, no strings — they own the footage. That's a gift, not a pitch. If they like what they see, the door is open for paid work, game-night partnerships, shooting dates.

Relevant GCV work: Ghost Coast Video. Closest case study for community-space documentation: Astronomia (Albuquerque). Don't name-drop on the call — just say you shoot events and spaces in Atlanta.

Phone script — if they pick up

"Hey, this is Brandyn — I dropped off a notecard at the shop a little while back. I do short video work for indie venues and spaces in Atlanta, Ghost Coast Video. I'm putting together a Little Five Points series right now, featuring the neighborhood spaces and the people running them. I wanted to offer Cloud 9 a free 60-second reel from a community night or event of your choice — no strings, you keep the footage. Wondering if that's something worth a quick conversation with whoever handles that side of things?"

Keep it under 45 seconds. If they hand you off to someone else, ask for that person's name before you hang up.

Voicemail — if no answer

"Hey, this is Brandyn. I left a notecard at Cloud 9 a while back about some video work. I'm doing a Little Five Points series right now and wanted to offer y'all a free 60-second reel from a community night — no pitch, just figured it might be useful. Number's [YOUR NUMBER]. No pressure either way."

Under 20 seconds. Don't over-explain.

Follow-up text — after the call, if no callback in a few days

"Hey — Brandyn here, left a voicemail about the L5P video series. Short version: free reel from a night at Cloud 9, you keep it. Worth a quick call if that sounds useful."

Before calling

1. Know the specific night you'd offer to shoot. Vague offers land poorly on the phone. If their website or Instagram shows a recurring community night (game night, themed evening, whatever), name it: "I'd love to shoot your [Thursday night / whatever they run]." Check @cloud9l5p or their website before dialing.

2. Ask for a person. If the person who picks up isn't the decision-maker, ask: "Who handles the events or community programming side?" Get a name.

3. Don't re-pitch the notecards thing. That angle didn't work. The pivot here is the L5P series / free reel offer. That's the lead.

4. If they're cold on the call too: note it in targets.md (status → nurture), walk in instead. In-person at a place like Cloud 9 is always warmer than a phone call they didn't expect.
