Context
Eddie's Attic has been running songwriter circles in Decatur since 1992. Thirty-four years of that specific format — artists in the round, trading songs, real listening-room attention from the crowd. John Mayer got his start there. Sugarland. Plenty of others nobody talks about who still remember the room.
The video hook: songwriter circles are one of the harder formats to capture well. The whole thing is built around quiet — the room leaning in, the space between chords, the performance that happens on someone's face while another person is singing. A phone aimed at the stage doesn't get it. When you do capture it right, it shows something no flyer or album photo can.
There's also a venue story angle here. Thirty-four years in the same Decatur neighborhood, same mission, same format. That's worth more than a highlight reel — it's material for a short documentary segment, an anniversary piece, something that tells the community why this room exists.
Relevant GCV work if they reply: Astronomia (live event and performance documentation, Albuquerque). The pattern is close — small venue, intimate performances, vertical clips for artist social. Detroit Action is the nonprofit case study if they want mission-org context. Neither belongs in the cold email.
Offer: Free 60-second reel from a songwriter circle, artist's choice of song. Same pattern as Dad's Garage / Sister Louisa's. Door-opener with no ask.
Subject: A reel from the songwriter circle
[Name] —
Songwriter circles are genuinely hard to shoot. The whole point of the format is the room going quiet — and you can't fake that in post or recover it from bad audio.
I do event and performance video in Atlanta. Ghost Coast Video. I'd like to offer Eddie's Attic a free 60-second reel from one of your upcoming songwriter nights — artist's choice of song, you own the footage. A room that's been running this format in Decatur since 1992 has stories worth capturing right.
If that sounds useful, just reply.

Before sending
1. Find a named contact — and do NOT contact Eddie Owen. VERIFIED 2026-05-26: Eddie Owen founded the venue in 1992 but SOLD it in 2002 (→ Todd Van Sickle → Bob Ephlin 2005 → Alex Cooley & Dave Mattingly 2011). He's run Eddie Owen Presents at Red Clay Music Foundry in Duluth for 24 years and has zero connection to Eddie's Attic. The email body correctly never names him — keep it that way. No named booking contact is web-discoverable; eddiesattic.com routes booking through a contact form (eddiesattic.com/contact-us/) and they're active on IG @eddiesattic. For a Tier-C cold approach the form or IG is acceptable.
2. Verify email. Website or a quick search should surface a direct address. Prefer a person's inbox over a contact form.
3. Check recent programming. If they just announced a notable songwriter circle, anniversary event, or had a notable artist come through, you can sharpen the opener to reference it specifically. The founding-year line works cold but a current peg is better.
4. Word count: 91 words in the body. Good.
