READ FIRST — the real relationship
GCV's prior work with Georgia Sierra Club was in the branding and design vertical. It's listed as the anchor case study for that service line under the campaign name "#VoteLocal" (from GCV's portfolio: case-studies/georgia-sierra-club.html). This was design/visual identity work, not a video retainer.
The pitch is a natural expansion: Sierra Club knows GCV and liked the work enough to be a named case study. The ask now is to bring in GCV's video side — narrative storytelling, rapid-response, member/donor retention content — for their current campaigns.
What Sierra Club is actively running right now (verified May 2026):
- Beyond Coal / Data Centers: Opposing Georgia Power's 10,000 MW expansion to power data centers, approved by PSC in December 2025. Sierra Club is pushing the PSC to reconsider. Georgia Power's own estimates put the cost at ~$20/month per customer, $50–60 billion over 50 years. Strong narrative video material.
- SB 34 (data center cost allocation): Supporting Sen. Chuck Hufstetler's bill requiring large load customers (100+ MW peak) to pay their own infrastructure costs. Bill continues to be live advocacy.
- Okefenokee win: The Conservation Fund purchased Twin Pines Minerals' mining site, ending the proposed mine. A recent concrete win to build storytelling around.
- PSC election win: Two new commissioners (Alicia Johnson, Peter Hubbard) took office in January 2026.
- Transit/clean transportation: Active metro Atlanta advocacy.
- "40 Days For The Okefenokee": Sierra Club ran a video campaign during the legislative session — individual videos from Georgians. Shows they already use video and see its value.
Ricky Leroux's role: UGA Grady School j-school background, handles social media, website, email programs, assists on policy and legislative programs. He's the right entry point for comms/media conversations. Budget decisions go through Adrien Webber.
Flags — decide before sending:
1. What did #VoteLocal cover, exactly? The case study page exists but I can't access the HTML. Before sending, Brandyn should confirm what GCV actually delivered so the opener is precise. Don't open with "we worked together on voter outreach" if it was something else.
2. Who is sending — Brandyn or Kennedy? Kennedy Cooper is GCV CEO and likely the prior account contact. These drafts are written in Brandyn's voice; confirm who owns this relationship before sending.
3. Ricky is the right opener; Adrien owns budget. Email Ricky first. If he goes quiet, escalate to Adrien. Don't cold-email both at once.
4. No fabricated results. The #VoteLocal work presumably drove some measurable outcome — social reach, voter contact, whatever. Don't invent a number. If Brandyn remembers a specific result, put it in Email #1. If not, leave the slot blank or omit.

#1 — Lead reactivation (the whole relationship)
Subject: picking back up from #VoteLocal
Ricky —
We did the #VoteLocal work for you and I've been watching what's happening with the Georgia Power fight. The data center rate story is exactly the kind of thing that's hard to explain quickly and easy to get wrong visually. You've got a real, concrete fight — average residential customers on the hook for billions — and you're going up against a company that's very good at looking reasonable.
I'd like to bring the video side in alongside what we built before. Monthly narrative pieces around the campaign, rapid-response cuts when something breaks in the legislature or at the PSC, and the donor/member content that keeps people close between actions. Did this for Detroit Action on a retainer basis.
Can I get twenty minutes with you to sketch what a 2026 package looks like for the data center campaign?

#2 — Rapid-response angle (timed to the data center fight)
Subject: video fast enough to matter on the PSC fight
Ricky —
The PSC reconsideration timeline means there are moments coming where Sierra Club needs to get a message out same day, not next week. Most video work takes too long to matter in those windows.
I built a rapid-response setup for Detroit Action so they could turn around a piece within hours when something broke. I'd like to bring the same thing to Georgia Sierra Club for the data center fight — a standing protocol so when the next hearing happens, you have something strong to put out fast.
Worth a short call to see if the timing makes sense?

#3 — Member retention / Okefenokee win angle
Subject: turning the Okefenokee win into something members feel
Ricky —
The Conservation Fund buying that mining site is the clearest win I've seen your chapter have in a while. That's a real story — the kind that keeps monthly donors close and gives lapsed members a reason to come back.
I make short member/donor pieces that connect the people funding the work to what their money actually did. Not a press release, not a social graphic — a two-minute video with a face in it, showing the Okefenokee still standing because people showed up.
One piece off that win is worth six months of general cultivation. Interested in talking through it?

#4 — Grant media angle
Subject: media that makes Sierra Club's grant applications stronger
Ricky —
One thing I do that most video people don't: I work alongside the grant process. Researching funders, building the media that supports the application, sometimes helping with the writing. I did this on a monthly basis for Detroit Action — it's one of those services that compounds, because the media makes the grant stronger and the grant funds the media.
If Sierra Club is chasing environmental or civic funding this year, I'd like to be in that loop. Can I put together a quick sketch of how it'd work for the data center and transit campaigns?

#5 — Follow-up + Adrien Webber escalation
Follow-up subject (send ~5 days after #1): re: #VoteLocal and 2026
Ricky — floating this back up. If there's a specific campaign moment or PSC hearing coming up where you're already thinking about communications, tell me what it is. Easy to start with one piece rather than a full conversation about the year. — Brandyn
Adrien Webber escalation (if Ricky doesn't respond after two touches):
Subject: GCV and Georgia Sierra Club — 2026
Adrien — I'm Brandyn from Ghost Coast Video. We did the #VoteLocal work for your chapter and I've been trying to connect with Ricky about bringing in the video side for the data center campaign. If he's slammed and you're the right door for that conversation, happy to talk directly. Worth fifteen minutes?
