Context

The Masquerade opened September 1989 at the DuPre Excelsior Mill, a century-old former manufacturing plant at 695 North Avenue in Old Fourth Ward. Three stages named for the afterlife — Heaven, Hell, Purgatory — made it Atlanta's alternative and indie anchor for twenty-seven years. The mill got sold in 2006 for a mixed-use development; the venue relocated to Kenny's Alley in Underground Atlanta in late 2016, kept the three stages, and added a fourth, Altar (250 cap), in 2024. Pitchfork has listed it among "America's Best Independent Music Venues."

The video angle is the split personality. Heaven, Hell, Purgatory, and Altar each pull a different crowd on the same night under one roof, and that's the part a phone camera never catches. The place has real history — a mill floor that famously shook, a move that carried the scene with it — and almost none of it lives on a feed.

The offer: A free 60–90 second reel, shot on a normal night. They own the footage, no strings on the first piece.

What I don't have: A named decision-maker. The venue's site and coverage publish no owner name — just a general email, a booking email, Facebook Messenger, and Instagram. Greeting stays generic until Brandyn puts a name to it.

Subject: Heaven, Hell, Purgatory, and now Altar

Hey —

Four stages under one roof in Kenny's Alley, and a 1989 start in a century-old mill on North Avenue. The Masquerade's the room Atlanta's alternative scene grew up in. I make short documentary reels for independent venues around Atlanta — Ghost Coast Video.

Heaven, Hell, Purgatory, and the Altar room you added in 2024 each carry a different night, and that's what a phone camera never gets: four rooms, four crowds, one building. I'd like to shoot a free 60–90 second piece on a normal night. You own the footage, no strings on the first one.

If there's a bill worth catching, reply here.

Before sending

1. Address correction — targets.md D11 said "North Avenue." That's stale. North Avenue is the original location (the DuPre Excelsior Mill, sold in 2006). The Masquerade has been in Kenny's Alley at Underground Atlanta since late 2016, at 50 Lower Alabama St SW. I corrected the row this session (North Avenue → Underground Atlanta) and rewrote the context.

2. No named decision-maker. The site and coverage publish no owner name. If Brandyn knows a booking contact or owner, address the email to them directly; otherwise the generic greeting is fine.

3. Confirm the emails are live. The contact page publishes two addresses — general (info@masqueradeatlanta.com) and local/regional booking (booking@masqueradeatlanta.com) — behind Cloudflare obfuscation. Both decode from the site footer/contact page. A venue this size may route either to a shared inbox; confirm before sending.

4. "Independent" nuance. The venue is independent (Pitchfork's "America's Best Independent Music Venues," April 2021), but it co-presents bills with Live Nation, Zero Mile, and Rival Entertainment. The message leans on the venue's roots, not a promoter-exclusivity claim.

5. "1989 founding" and the Heaven/Hell/Purgatory/Altar stages are verified (their own site + Wikipedia; the Altar room added 2024 per What Now Atlanta). No fabricated metrics, no AI attribution.

6. Word counts: ~103 words in the email body, ~265 chars in the DM. Both under cap.

7. Don't reference Charis (D8), Little's (D9), Trackside (D10), or any other lead as a GCV client. All cold prospects from the same batch. No fabricated relationships.
