Context
Our Bar ATL opened February 2020 at the corner of Edgewood and Hilliard, the brainchild of a group of friends who saved up to open their own place. It is the rare bar that states its purpose in its own words: "a vibrant, welcoming space that not only embraces but champions Atlanta's diversity — whether it's the food, music, or culture." Co-owner Sarah Oak Kim goes further: "People often describe us as a community center or a safe space, and we can't help but agree." Their Story page frames the whole thing as "Talent-to-Table" — finding the city's young, hungry talent and giving them a chance. The crew claims 163 years of combined hospitality experience, and the homepage runs three pillars: Feed our fam, Celebrate our local talents, Uplift our neighborhood.
The video angle is the values made visible. A directory page can show the hours and the address on Edgewood. It can't show a room that, in its own words, champions Atlanta's diversity — the rotating pop-up kitchen, the DJ and live-music nights, the karaoke that started as a pandemic-era "feel-good vibes" thing and stuck, the neighborhood that shows up and is told to "just come as you are." That's the thing a still can't catch.
The offer: A free 60–90 second reel, their call on the day — a Tasting 4 Tastemakers night, a chef battle, a live-music set. They own the footage, no strings on the first piece.
What I don't have: A decision-maker's direct inbox. Sarah Oak Kim is the named co-owner across multiple outlets, but the published address is a general info@ box, so the greeting stays generic unless Brandyn confirms a direct contact. "people-powered, purpose-driven" from targets.md is not on the current site verbatim — I leaned on the two verified quotes above instead (see "Before sending" note 1).

Subject: A reel for the bar that says what it is
Hey Our Bar —
Most bars make you guess what they're about. Yours is right on the site: a space that champions Atlanta's diversity. And in your co-owner's words, people describe it as a community center or a safe space. That's the thing a menu can't show — the room on Edgewood Ave feeding the fam, uplifting the neighborhood, giving young talent a shot.
I run Ghost Coast Video, short documentary reels for Atlanta bars.
I'd like to shoot a free 60–90 second piece, your call on the day. You own the footage, no strings on the first one.
Worth a reply?

Instagram DM (secondary — @ourbaratl)
Hey — Ghost Coast Video, I shoot short film for bars around Atlanta.
Our Bar ATL's the Edgewood Ave spot that actually says what it is: champions Atlanta's diversity, a community center that happens to pour drinks. That's a values story, not a sales pitch. I'd like to shoot a free 60–90 second reel, your call on the day. You own the footage, no strings on the first one.
Worth a message back?

Before sending
1. "people-powered, purpose-driven" is not on the current site verbatim. That phrasing comes from the targets.md fit reason. The two quotes I actually used are verified on the live site this session: "champions Atlanta's diversity" (homepage/story) and "community center or a safe space" (Sarah Oak Kim via VoyageATL, also reprinted on their own Press page). If Brandyn wants the exact "people-powered, purpose-driven" line, he'd need to find where it came from first — I couldn't.
2. Co-owner name confirmed, but the inbox is general. Sarah Oak Kim is the named co-owner/partner across Eater Atlanta, AJC, ShoutOut Atlanta, VoyageATL, and WhatNow Atlanta (2020–2022). The published address info@ourbaratl.com is a general inbox, so the greeting stays "Hey Our Bar —" unless Brandyn has a direct address. Do not address Sarah by name in a cold first touch to the general inbox.
3. No "live comedy" or "cheap drinks" claim made. The brief mentioned cheap drinks and live comedy, but neither is on the current site. What is verified: late-night drinks/dancing/live music (Eater), karaoke (AJC July 2022), DJs, the rotating pop-up kitchen / chef residencies, and the "Tasting 4 Tastemakers" spirit-tasting series. I kept the draft to those.
4. Channel cell in targets.md was already accurate (WEB ourbaratl.com / IG @ourbaratl), but it was missing the real published email and phone. Added info@ourbaratl.com and 678-929-8380 to the E11 cell.
5. Bar is active and real, verified this session. Site live on Wix (©2024 Our Bar ATL, LLC), current hours (Mon closed; Tue–Wed 8pm–2:30am; Thu–Sat 2pm–2:30am; Sun 2pm–12am), address 339 Edgewood Ave SE. The events page looks a bit stale (mostly 2020–2021 events plus a Sept "Tasting 4 Tastemakers"), so the live social is worth a check before sending to confirm what's actually on the calendar now.
6. Keep distinct from the other venue drafts. Breaker Breaker (E10) is the BeltLine patio bar; 97 Estoria (E6) is the Cabbagetown arts-market dive; Halfway Crooks (E8) is the Summerhill brewpub campus; Talat Market (E9) is the chef-driven Thai origin story. This one is the values/mission angle — the bar that says what it's for. Don't reuse their copy, don't batch-send.
7. No fabricated relationships or metrics. Our Bar ATL is a cold prospect, not a client. No AI attribution. Word counts: ~110 in the email body, ~70 in the DM — both under cap.
Status log
- 2026-09-13: draft written by night-shift worker; verified the bar is active and real (ourbaratl.com live on Wix with current hours and 339 Edgewood Ave SE address; ©2024 Our Bar ATL, LLC); confirmed real channels (info@ourbaratl.com, IG @ourbaratl, phone 678-929-8380, FB/X/TikTok/YouTube), enriching the E11 cell with the email and phone that targets.md was missing; confirmed co-owner Sarah Oak Kim (Eater 2022, AJC 2022, ShoutOut 2021, VoyageATL, WhatNow 2020) but left the greeting generic since the inbox is a general info@. Hook is the values/mission angle — "champions Atlanta's diversity" and "community center or a safe space" — the thing a menu can't show. Flagged that "people-powered, purpose-driven" and "live comedy / cheap drinks" from the brief aren't on the current site and were not used. Awaiting Brandyn review before sending.
