Context

⚠️ ORIGINAL PREMISE WAS FALSE — corrected 2026-05-26. Staplehouse is NOT currently the for-profit arm of Giving Kitchen. They parted ways in August 2020; Giving Kitchen sold Staplehouse to Kara Hidinger & Ryan Smith, who now own it outright (sources: AJC "Staplehouse embarks on new era," Giving Kitchen legacy page, Wikipedia). Since then it shifted from fine-dining to a casual market format on Edgewood Ave — earned a Michelin star in 2024, lost it in 2025 after dropping the tasting menu. The original draft's hook ("one sustains the other") was ~6 years out of date and would have signaled no homework. New hook: the reinvention/survival story, which is true and flattering. Owners to address: Kara Hidinger (FOH/business) and Ryan Smith (chef).

Relevant GCV case study: Detroit Action — advocacy nonprofit on a multi-year video retainer. Narrative storytelling, donor retention, rapid-response production. It's not a restaurant, but the pattern (mission-driven org, story is the core product, video serves the cause not just the aesthetic) is the same argument.

What I don't have: current leadership names, recent social activity, specific contact email. These require checking staplehouse.com before sending. Do not use a generic "info@" if a named contact is findable — the opener should be to a person.

Subject: The Giving Kitchen story

[Name] —

Staplehouse has had a few lives — the Giving Kitchen years, the Michelin run, and now the market on Edgewood. Not many restaurants reinvent themselves that many times and keep the room full. That's a harder story to tell in a grid post than it looks.

I run Ghost Coast Video in Atlanta. I do narrative video for Detroit Action, an advocacy nonprofit on a multi-year retainer — work where the story is the point, not an afterthought.

If it's useful, I can send a 60-second reel or a case study link. Or just a quick call — no pitch.

Before sending

1. Find a named contact. Check staplehouse.com for a GM, owner, or communications contact. The opener "The fact that Staplehouse and Giving Kitchen..." doesn't require a specific name, but the greeting should be a person.

2. Verify email address. staplehouse.com may have a contact form or a direct address. Prefer direct email over a form.

3. Check recent social activity. If Giving Kitchen ran a recent fundraiser or Staplehouse posted anything mission-related, you can make the opener even more specific ("Saw the Giving Kitchen campaign last month..."). Not required — the founding story is specific enough.

4. Word count: ~90 words in the body. Good.

5. VERIFIED 2026-05-26 — read context note. Hook was rewritten because the Giving Kitchen relationship ended in 2020. Gut-check the "few lives" tone before sending — reciting a venue's own history back to them can feel presumptuous; if it does, cut to just the Detroit Action intro + offer. Address Kara Hidinger or Ryan Smith by name. Still open (541 Edgewood Ave SE, Thu–Sun).
